How this site was made.

This site is built from scratch as a digital homestead -- a place I own, design, and maintain with intention.

Technology

  • Framework: Next.js 16 with the App Router

  • Animation: Motion (formerly Framer Motion)
  • Content: MDX processed by Velite with Zod schemas

Typography

  • Headlines: Instrument Serif -- editorial, warm, expressive
  • Body: Space Grotesk -- geometric, readable, modern
  • Code: JetBrains Mono -- clear, developer-friendly

Design philosophy

The design follows a “build first, iterate visually” approach. Start with solid defaults (dark background, warm off-white text, strong typography), deploy, then refine by actually looking at the site in a browser.

Content follows the digital garden model: pieces exist as seeds, grow over time, and some become evergreen works.
